Techtonic Games launches 3D Endless Runner Bust-N-Rush through EA.com, Origin and Techtonic’s website.

Santa Barbara, CA – Sep 12, 2012 – Techtonic Games is pleased to announce that their 3D endless runner Bust-N-Rush launched today (9/14/12). Bust-N-Rush is available through EA.com and via the Origin service (http://store.origin.com/promo?promoID=88022500&linkid=BustRush_DBB_PDP). EA/Origin has exclusive content including a new game mode, soundtrack and a never-before-seen video. The standard edition and demo version are available on the Techtonic Games website (http://purchase.techtonicgames.com/comic).

Bust-N-Rush is a 3D endless runner for PC and Mac, that features three distinct worlds of bustable gameplay as well as three playable modes. Bust-N-Rush offers an original take on Quest Mode, by allowing users to seamlessly pick up and complete quests without interrupting the player's run. The classic Survival Mode is also available for those who enjoy the raw challenge and high score aspect of the runner genre. In addition, Techtonic is pleased to share Bust-A-Friend Mode, where players can send real time or time shifted challenges to their Facebook friends.

Bust-N-Rush advances the runner genre with its high-octane attitude, tremendous speeds, and dynamic playing styles. Scott Washington, Lead Designer on Bust-N-Rush remarked, “We didn’t just want to make another, 'me-too’ runner game. When we set out to create Bust-N-Rush, we wanted to infuse an explosive energy to the game that the runner genre hadn’t really seen before.”

EA/Origin will offer Bust-N-Rush in a special package called the Double-Bust-Bundle. This deal will exclusively be available through Origin, and will include:

• Transition Mode (where players can bust through all three Modes simultaneously)
• Never-before-seen content, including the hilarious comedy, Crunch Time Chronicles

 

To celebrate the launch Bust-N-Rush will sell for $14.99 for the Double Bust Bundle and $9.99 for the standard edition, a savings of 25%-33% off the normal price. The sale will run from 9/14 to 9/21.

Techtonic Games Inc. Announces September 14th as the Official Launch Date of the High-Octane 3D Runner Bust-N-Rush

Santa Barbara, CA – July 09, 2012 – Techtonic Games Inc. is pleased to announce that the launch date of Bust-N-Rush will be September 14th, 2012. Bust-N-Rush will be released on PC, Mac and web browsers.

Bust-N-Rush is a fast paced 3D arcade runner that puts you in the shoes of the armored Juggernaut-like hero Kovo. Kovo embarks on an audacious quest to quench his burning thirst for vengeance when his best friend Paco, a plastic pink flamingo, is savagely destroyed by the machine monstrosity, the Satellite of Wub.

Rush through three procedurally generated worlds of treacherous terrain while smashing powerful items that send you flying through the air or flip gravity's direction. Pacing was a tremendous problem we faced while developing Bust-n-Rush. We needed to formulate a way to create levels spanning multiple miles with limited development time. To solve the problem, we first created small randomly generated chunks from each level theme and then procedurally arranged them, based on multiple factors, into levels. This method saved us hundreds of hours and we thought it was an interesting topic for a blog post.

  Each chunk of Bust-n-Rush contains things like rocks, decorative lights, the ground, indestructible and destructible obstacles, and score multipliers (Scorbs). As the player runs through a level, these chunks are generated when just out of view and then destroyed when no longer needed. Propagating the levels was easy, but the completely random nature of the chunks used to generate each level proved rather unwieldy. To remedy this, we implemented a pacing system which controlled how, and when, chunks were spawned.  

We’re fairly close to announcing a release date and platform for Bust-n-Rush, but in the meanwhile we have some preivews that make for excellent distractions.
